2006 Modeling Sensing, and Environmental Systems
Workshop (MoSES 2006)
LNCC, July 10-14, 2006
Abstract
A small group of researchers and graduate students spent five days discussing
DDDAS issues for contaminant identification and tracking, wildland fires, and
environmental modeling of the Amazon region. The format of the workshop was a
couple of talks in each of the late morning and early afternoon. Discussions
were held during the rest of the day and over dinner in the evening in the
delightful city of Petropolis.
This workshop was supported in part by the National Science Foundation, the
GEOMA project, and LNCC.
Conference Motto
Teddy Roosevelt once said that you should speak softly, but carry a big
stick. At this workshop we learned that the modern Brasilian equivalent is to
speak softly and carry a big snake (Maria Teresa Fernandez Piedade
and friend from near Manaus).

Conference Organizers
Craig C. Douglas, University of Kentucky and Yale University
Maurício Kritz, LNCC
